I think every graphic designer dreams about working with a leading type foundry to create a brand font that supports the needs of the scaling global business. We were lucky enough to get this opportunity when the business case was approved. The result is a beautiful super family that works across all marketing touchpoints. We even created a mono-spaced family as a hat-tip to our developer community.
The creative team made the business case to leadership for a custom typeface family to distinguish the brand further. Twilio’s current typeface, Whitney, hit a licensing tipping point. It was no longer reasonable to pay licensing fees at Twilio’s scale. So, the brand team created its own typeface. Working with Sharp Type was a dream, and we couldn’t have been happier with how this project turned out.
